Mark Lester

CLPB members gathered at Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday, April 5th, for Mark Lester’s talk and demonstration. Mark recently relocated from the Jacksonville area and holds a BFA from the University of North Florida. He is the education director at the Armory in West Palm Beach, where he also teaches.

Mark discussed incorporating glass, metal, and wood into his ceramic pieces, sharing images and video. During the demo portion of the afternoon, Mark walked attendees through the process of creating a double-walled bottle from start to finish. Mark demonstrated all the necessary steps on the potter’s wheel to create the structure and completed the demo by carving the outside wall to reveal the vessel inside.
