DIANE LUBLINSKI Diane Lublinski, a Pembroke Pines ceramic artist and painter will be our guest at our January General Membership meeting. Diane’s website ClayForms.com will amaze you as you study her wheel thrown cylinder creations, made of both porcelain and stoneware. You will agree that when looking at these whimsical figures, there seems to be some conversation going on. Diane states that her work comes from her dreams and observations. She has received many awards for her wonderful work and is represented in many galleries throughout the country. The CLPB is pleased to have Diane share her knowledge and expertise. Let’s, as always, support our monthly guests with your attendance at this meeting. Come meet Diane and enjoy her presentation. |
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
First and foremost, I want to wish each of you, your families and loved ones a happy and healthy New Year! I am looking forward to the New Year, as a time of renewal of our spirit and hopes for better times ahead. The words, one day at a time, seem most appropriate as we move forward, slowly and deliberately seeking to meet the challenges that have impacted so many of us.
The league has not remained immune to the changes this year. We have, at this time, had to alter our exhibition schedule for January 2010. Sadly we must cancel our Present Global Art Gallery Scholarship Fundraiser “Digging Deep” scheduled to take place January 29-February 5, 2010. Member participation for this one week venue was very low. We are looking forward, however, with great excitement, to present our Form and Fiber exhibition at The Lighthouse Gallery, February 11-March 27, 2010. Mark your calendar.
My heart swells when I think of the progress the CLPB has made these past year. The league was conceived almost 40 years ago and here we stand, larger and stronger than ever! Who would have ever imagined the creation of a website? Our 2009 fundraiser “Clay Energy” was so exceptional! What recognition we received. I can’t thank you enough for your support, your participation. Nothing can be accomplished without the two. Your Board is exceptional, constantly brainstorming to keep your interest in the ceramic arts. We are continuing to invite wonderfully talented artists, some a part of the CLPB and other ceramicists across this country, to educate and share their talents and skills with us. They have been inspiring. The league is successful for so many reasons and I am proud of our achievements and the effort put forth by all.
The scholarship monies awarded each year to students pursuing their ceramic studies has been very rewarding. We will continue to keep our focus on this goal with your ongoing help. Small and large, your personal donations as well as monies collected from our gallery exhibitions and our annual holiday show and sale once more exhibited the depth of the commitment of the CLPB. Thank you so much.
Yet, we cannot rest on our laurels. There is always room for improvement. I need your input so I can keep abreast of your wishes. What would you like to have as far as demonstrations or workshops? Many of you have generously shared your time and talent and we are most appreciative! Are you able to serve on one of our committees? Are you computer savvy? Each year we schedule exhibitions and it is necessary for us to know whether these venues are important to you as part of your membership. Is there a community project you have heard about that might be of interest to the league? Our success requires meeting your needs, so just pick up the phone and share your thoughts and ideas with me.
In closing, it is my pleasure serving as your president for 2009-2010. I encourage you to keep those creative juices flowing! I look forward to seeing you at our next gathering, Wednesday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m. Once again, I sincerely wish each and every one a Happy and healthy New Year!
